July holds bittersweet memories for the residents of Letcher County. As flood water rushed into our streets, moved vehicles, and rushed into our homes only a year ago, the murky waters left behind a lasting mark on our community. While this month brings despair, it also brings hope, a hope that 75-year-old Bobby Stallard is fully embracing.

HOMES, Inc.’s Board of Directors will be meeting Thusrday, May 18, 2023 at 12pm Noon to discuss a potential conflict of interest for a new home for a flood survivor. The meeting will discuss the situation and the use of Kentucky Housing Corporation’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund in this project if a conflict of interest waiver is approved.

What a year it has been! The wide spread destruction caused by the historic July 29th flooding event is incomprehensible! At the same time, we have been blessed to receive contributions, enabling and encouraging us forward. We have been so busy with all the work and chaos that I have not had time to reach out with an update to say Thank You! This letter is meant to serve that purpose, I hope it gives you a sense that your contributions have enabled us to do so much good work in just 4 months.
